Sizing and Measuring

How to measure for best results: Use a cloth tape measure if available. If not, use a piece of string or cloth long enough to reach all the way around the widest part of the body you will be measuring, allowing a bit extra to hold it comfortably. Hold one end in one hand, pinched between your fingertips. Reach around (or have someone help you), and bring the other end around to meet the end your have in your fingertips. Mark this spot, and measure the length. It's that easy!

Please don't leave extra for give or anything like that, as this will just make it less likely to fit correctly. We will make every effort to allow for comfort in the fit of your clothing.

  • Neck: Measure right where your neck meets your shoulders.
  • Sleeve: Relax your arm by your side, and measure from the middle of the back of your neck, down the outside of your arm, down to the bend of your wrist.
  • Chest: Measure just under the arms, and across your shoulders, making sure to keep the tape as level as possible.
  • Bust: Measure around the fullest part of the bust, and make sure you keep the tape level, and not pulling too tightly. This might affect the accuracy. Please use a measurement, and not your bra size.
  • Waist: This should be measured just above where your hip bones are. Feel for this while swinging your leg from front to back if you're not sure exactly where.
  • Hips: Measure across the fullest part of your bottom, low, near where the leg joins the hip.
  • Height: Have somone help you, and while standing upright, measure from the floor to the top of the head while looking straight ahead.

To measure properly for a ladies corset:
Measure at your natural waist; the smallest part of your middle. If you have not worn corsets before or do not wish to be tightly squeezed, choose a size number 3 inches smaller. If you have worn a corset before, choose 4 to 5 inches smaller. If you are buxom, the peaked style is more accommodating than the sweetheart style. If you have any question about fit, call and ask for Lady Susan.
